A few cards for donation

For my son's fundraiser, in addition to a recipe box (previous post), I also made a set of cards.  After I made these few, I found a box of cards that I had made last year at this time and forgot about!  So, I added to these cards and that made my 8!  I was just too tired to make 2 more!

I tried to make each one different.

Thanks for visiting!
Have a wonderful day!

Vegetable Recipe Box

Ok, THIS is my favorite recipe box!  LOL!  I can't lie, I love all of them!  Each are unique and different!  This one is just like that!  I started out by looking at kitchen wallpaper (where the beans came from), and then I got the idea that I wanted REAL looking vegetables to decorate the top.  And when I can't find a stamp, I create the images myself.  So, all the vegetables are hand drawn by me, and colored to imitate real vegetables!  I think the radishes are my favorite, w/ the carrots and eggplant a close second!  Corn is really hard to draw!  All those kernels!
The pea pods are from the MFT set Alpha Dots.  Don't they look just like little peas?!

Overall view

Front!  When I was looking at the wallpaper, there was a sample that had the grid but it had ivy on it.  I felt that if I put that on here, then my beans would get lost!  So, I created my own grid w/ Creamy Caramel ink, strips of paper, and vanilla cardstock.

closeup of the top.  I used a Copic for the lines on the carrots.  I used a white gel pen for the veins on the leaves of the radishes.  All the other colors used are SU! and I used a sponge for all of it.

Here's a look at the inside.  Not as exciting as the outside!

And a last view of the top as a whole.

Whomever wins this, I hope you enjoy it!  I thoroughly enjoyed making this!

A Cookie Jar

Hi there!  So.... I am in charge of the basket raffle at my son's school fundraiser.  As I was putting the baskets together, I needed to add something to make one of the baskets more exciting.  I was already making chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes for my friend's get together, so I had cookies on the brain.  I decided to make a jar of ingredients for chocolate chip cookies.  I have never done this, so I went online to get a recipe, filled the jar and went to town on the top.  I used MTF's Lovin' From the Oven for the cookies, spoon and measuring cup.  I used Copics to color.  The doily is their newest die!  I am in LOVE!  It's AWESOME!!!!!

Have a great day!

MFT Halloween decorations!

I know Halloween is technically over, but.....  I still wanted to share some pics of what I created for my cousins.  I always like to bring them a treat, as we go over to one of their houses for trick or treating (after we trick or treat the night before in OUR town!)  Two days of trick or treating, OH MY!!!!!  Wait til THAT post!  I'll put pics on THAT tomorrow!  It will take my kids til Christmas to get through all the candy!

Anyway, so, my cousins have very nice homes, and I don't want to junk it up w/ silly stuff that I make, but these were just so cute, I just had to share with them!

I used Bling Bet for the letters and adhered little eyes in all the holes.  The little witch is from MFT's Too Cute To Spook.  The ghost is from Who's That Ghost Flopsey.  And the pumpkin is from Trick or Treat w/ WTG.  The added decorations are from a Martha grouping of ribbons.  The paper is from SU!

This was the first project actually.  I wanted to do something w/ acrylic as well as the new Mini Banner die and alphabet.  This is NOT a good picture, but I was in a hurry to leave, so I just took the pics in the kitchen.  The tree and fence are acrylic!  The headstones are from the Ghoulish Label set.  I die cut the grass using the MFT die, and I cut from Pear Pizzazz as well as black and I shadowed it to give a little depth.  As for the banners, I used a smallish punch that worked PERFECTLY!  It came from SU!, but I think it was in a mini catalog.  Anyway, after I cut one out, I thought it would be cool to make them all eyeballs.  So, I drew some red in each circle after I punched them out.  I sponged some black around to make them look more 3-D.
A fun little trick w/ the banner!  When you die cut it, take a look at the negative!  If you cut out the negative, and place it behind the actual banner, it makes a PERFECT layer!  Try it!  You'll see!  Jody Morrow (texasjodylynn) is doing a tutorial on it soon!  So, stay tuned!

And that is it folks!  I hope you all had a wonderful Halloween!  Enjoy the sweets!

Playing around w/ MFT stamps!

Hi!  I haven't had a chance to really just play around w/ some MFT images in a while, and I have felt like they have been neglected!  So, I took some time this evening to create a card just for the heck of it!  W/ the roses that high, there's no way I can mail this!  Haha!

I used MFT's WTG Well Read.  Since I'm in a book club, I HAD to get this set!  Plus, that's me on that couch when I'm not stamping!  Speaking of, I need to get to the library for some new romance novels!

I used Copics for the couch (YG03, YG17, YG06, & YG11) as well as the girl.  I used Basic Grey's Origins paper stack, some lace, black paper, vanilla paper, black ink, Old Olive paper & ribbon, black brads, and the Framed Greetings die, as well as the Rolled Rose die for the roses.  I sponged black on the back of the flowers because the dp is just one sided!  I didn't want glaring white backgrounds!  Gasp!  The horror!!!!

Hope you like it!  It turned out better than what I had in my mind!  I love when that happens!

Have a great day!  Read a book!!!!

Spooky!

Hi there!  Or, should I say..... BOO!
Well, let's get into the Halloween spirit w/ this post!  I subscribe to quite a few blogs, and as I was reading my email one day, I found a contest for Clear Scraps using acrylic on a Halloween project.  Well, that got me thinking.....  It took me a few days to come up w/ this idea, but here it is!  I needed a new Halloween decoration anyway, so duel purpose!  Love that!!!  Anyway, so I went to my LSS and purchased 2 sheets of Clear Scraps acrylic, some Tattered Angels spray, and some other things for future projects, and yesterday I got to work!  I decided to spell out the word BOO because that's the least amount of letters, and anything bigger would have just been too much.
I happen to have a whole alphabet of chipboard letters in many fonts and sizes.  So, I took the large B and a small o and out of a coaster traced another o to match.
For the acrylic, I cut a piece of it and ran it through my cuttlebug w/ my spiderweb embossing folder.  Then, I carefully filled in all the webbing "trenches" for lack of a better word w/ crystal effects (SU!) and then sprinkled some glitter on top.  I let that dry a little bit, and then sprayed some Tattered Angels Slate mist on top of that to give it that blue/gray tint.
I also stamped on a piece of acrylic w/ Kitchen Sink Stamps' Owl & Autumn Moon tree.  I just did the first image in Onyx Black.  I cut the tree out, and adhered to the B.  I also used the moon from that KSS set and stamped it in Going Gray.  The clouds are vellum and I sponged the edges.

My spider is pretty cute, I do have to say!  I rolled a piece of paper like you would a rolled flower.  Then, I cut 8 pieces into thin strips and quilled them to make legs.  I dabbed glue on the top of the "flower" as well as the tops of the legs and dipped everything in black sparkle fluff.

The bottom part of the B is toile that I sponged black and tore in several places.  Do you like the Frankenstein coming out of the frame?  I drew him myself!  I made a face in my mirror and drew what my face looked like.  So pretty!  LOL!  Anyway, then I drew his hands and put them on top of the frame so it looks like he's trapped in the frame and can't come out!

Well, I hope that this sparks your creativity for Halloween!
Have a great day!

Cottage Ivy card holder

Here is my card holder that I created to fit my set of cards.  The flower is from Tim Holtz flower die, and I used a tutorial from Tammy Tutterow on flowers.  Now, I have to say that I rushed through this tutorial and didn't give it the proper time and expertise that these flowers need to look professional.  With time and trial and error, I will achieve the look that Tammy has perfected!  You have GOT to check her blog out!  Oh my gosh, FANTASTIC!!!!

I used Cottage Wall dsp. (retired) from SU!.  I also used Rich Razzleberry for the base of the holder, and Old Olive as accent color.  I think I took enough pictures of it!  Do you think?!
Anyway, now on to the next project!  Whatever that would be!

Have a great day!!!

The rest of the pack!

Hi there!  I finally finished this order and photographed them!  They went postal today!  Whew!  Another thing off of my list!

This first card is something different from what I normally do, and I am excited to say that I LOVE how it turned out!  You will probably see more of this type of style from me in future projects!  I'm testing out new styles and techniques, and am so excited to see what awesome things I can come up with!

This card is just really simple, yet somewhat elegant.  I used my new Tim Holtz Flower die.  I LOVE IT!!!!  And then I embossed it w/ my new embossing folder from Tim.  Well, technically from Eclectic Paperie!  Haha!  They are having a special where you can get 16 Tim Holtz Embossing Folders for around $50.00!  You cannot beat that!!!!  I just had to get them!  I was tired of seeing other people using them and feeling jealous!  ;)

This one did not photograph well.  :(  This is one of my favorites too.  What a bummer I have such a crappy camera.  Anyway, I stamped the middle and masked off the sides, and made some embossed lines w/ the scor-pal on either side.  I LOVE how it turned out!  And those chipboard swirls are my favorite!
Here's one of Tim's embossing folders!  It's called Rays.  And how about my coloring on that little girl!  Pretty darn good if I say so myself!  Hahaha!  I'm slowly learning how to use my Copics.  It seems like the achieved look is watercolor?  Hmmm, could be wrong!

This is another favorite of mine!  I used my beloved Kitchen Sink Stamps Multi Step Trees on this one.

And that's it!  I'll be back w/ another post on the holder itself that I made last minute to finish the gift off.
Thanks for visiting!
