CAS-ual Friday card!

Today I have zero mojo!  It's a crime!!!!  I have quite a few projects that I'm working on simultaneously, and this week, including weekend, I have not wanted to even set foot in stamp room, let alone get some work done.

So, since I have the WHOLE day stretched out in front of me w/ nothing to do, why not challenge myself?  The biggest challenge that I have are CAS cards.  Otherwise known as Clean And Simple.  To me, they lack layers, and sponging, and oodles of paper on ONE card!  They are very simple, and I am very complex.  We don't get along usually.  But, my good friend, Karolyn Loncon, is a Girl Friday for the CAS-ual Fridays Design Team.  And since she's a friend of mine, I subscribe to her blog.  Friday morning I opened her post and there was the second challenge, using buttons and twine!  Well, gee, I have both of those items!

Then, today comes, and I wasted a whole morning finishing a romance novel I downloaded.  I came down here after lunch, and decided, if I can't do something for one of my projects, I'll make a CAS card!

This is what I created:

I used my SU! bird punch for the birds and branches.  I used pink baker's twine (The Twinery) to make rosettes so that they imitate berries on the branches.  And then the buttons I used as music notes.  I didn't do so hot w/ the rest of the notes, but you get the drift!

So, there's my first CAS card in a LONG time!  Maybe I'll be inspired to make another next Friday!

  1. Well I'd say you nailed this one, even if you don't think you can do CAS. And I like to claim that CAS means clean and sophisticated (I like my layers and inking too!) and you card fits the bill for sure. Your french knots are very pretty. SO glad you joined us for CAS-ual Fridays.

  2. I agree with Dana-you nailed CAS! I think CAS is sort of misunderstood. You CAN have layers and sponging and lots of yummyness-it comes down to the layout and design. Needs to be a clear focal point with open space and you've definitely got that going on! ;D LOVE those knotted berries and your little button notes are very clever! Thanks for playing with us at CAS-ual Fridays, hope to see ya again soon!
